Appointment of Municipal Administrator in Enterprise

Today, an order declaring that the Hamlet of Enterprise is under Administration is in effect. This order will remain in effect for 45 days.
The Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) has determined it has become necessary to place the Hamlet of Enterprise under administration.
The Hamlet of Enterprise has been under a Supervision Order since January 6, 2026. In mid-July, two members of council resigned, leaving only two councillors remaining. Without a sufficient number of councillors to pass motions, the Hamlet of Enterprise is unable to conduct business and meet its obligations under the Hamlet’s Act.
To ensure governance decisions can be made and the Hamlet of Enterprise meets its duties under the Act, the Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs has filed an urgent Administration Order that dissolves Council.
The Minister has appointed as the Bobby Borque as Administrator; Oliver McSwain and Lorie Fyfe have been appointed Deputy Administrators.
This means that the current by-election calendar will be cancelled and a new one started in the coming days.
This exceptional measure has been deemed necessary to respond to the Hamlet’s inability to make decisions with fewer than three councillors, to ensure on going good governance and to continue to address the challenges that have faced the Hamlet.

The goal is to ensure the community government is able to meet the needs of its residents and ensuring a successful transition back to local governance, through an election, as soon as possible.”

Quick Facts
The Administrator replaces the council. The Administrator may exercise the powers and shall perform the duties of the council under the Hamlets Act.
All bylaws and budgets will need to be approved by the Minister. Residents can contact the Administrator if they have concerns or questions about community government operations while the Hamlet is under administration.
A new election will occur, according to the legislation, within the next 45 days, and we anticipate a full council will address the issues of not having enough council to conduct essential business.
